What is the difference between regular oil and extra virgin/virgin?

Take for example: Olive oil or extra virgin olive oil.





Coconut oil or virgin coconut oil





I think I might have a clue because of the word virgin but I'm not sure...What is the difference between regular oil and extra virgin/virgin?

when olives are put into the press to produce oil the oil that comes out before pressing is considered virgin. Extra virgin is probably the very first of that oil. As the press squeezes the olives the regular oil is produced.
