We know what happens when our blood is removed from our body.
Just CuriousWhat is the purpose of oil in regards to earth?
We are carbon based lifeforms on this planet. When we die and indeed when all lifeforms die the elements we are made of break down into different compounds.
Basically over time these carbon compounds turn into various complicated carbon based molecules and oil is one of these very complicated carbon compounds.
It's the most efficient fuel we've found so far except for coal, which is also a carbon product. These burn and break down into more simple carbon molecules like carbon dioxide.
This is a perfect ecosystem. The elements are reused over and over again. It's like recycling life. What is the purpose of oil in regards to earth?
Think of oil as a liquid fossil - a record of past life on this planet that you can pour.
There is no ';purpose'; of oil in the earth, it is mearly organic compounds that have formed from various sources over a period of millions of years...such a plant's, and animals (dinosaurs and others from many millions of years ago) it is not the earth's ';blood';, removing it will not cause any harm to the earth...burning it in your car is another thing all together...on the flip side, man will never ';destroy'; the planet, we very well make it uninhabitable to humankind, but once people are dead, the earth will recover in just a couple of centruy's (less than a blink of an eye in geologic terms)
Oil is just the byproduct ( result ) of plant and animal decay over millions of years. The heat, pressure, and chemical reactions that take place well below the surface of the earth are what oil is produced from. This is why we need to drill so far down to get oil. It has nothing to do with fueling the center of the earth - it's just there.
