What will you cut back on, or is saving money not a factor for your future?
What foods will you eat less of and which ones will you eat more of?Do you worry that your food bill will increase? Due to high oil, corn and wheat prices?
I have been worried about this for a little while now. My husband has a great job as an electrician, but with all the expenses of everyday life going up, a paycheck just barely makes it. Now with gas and grocery prices going up, it makes things even tighter. My main worry is milk and fresh produce prices, as they are already high and getting higher. I drink a lot of milk because I take a lot of medication and the only thing that makes it feel better is milk, so I just try to drink milk if I only have to. For the fresh produce, I just try to make it stretch as far as possible and check prices of all the grocery store around me so I know I am getting the best price. If I can, for certain products like fruit or other vegetables, I buy them frozen which can help keep prices down. For other food, I buy things generic brand whenever I can and I cut as many coupons as I can. I also buy meat when it is on sale or clearance and then freeze it so it does not go bad, and then I have it when I need it. It can be really difficult to save money and this is one more way now that I have to watch what and how I spend. Hopefully once summer comes I can plant some of my own veggies and herbs and save even more money.Do you worry that your food bill will increase? Due to high oil, corn and wheat prices?
what do you mean ';will increase'; .... it has increased. I cut back on a lot of stuff (I buy a half gallon of milk rather than a gallon unless its on sale, we hardly ever have OJ unless on sale, etc.) and I shop at Costco, which is very economical.
Yup, it already has. Milk has gone up and my son LOVES cereal. I've already cut back on bread and other wheat products. I will cut back in another area of my budget to accommodate the increase in gas, etc. It sucks! I just got a raise and was planning on saving the difference but that's out the window.
It already has increased!!!
I cut down by planning out menus before going to the store. I try to make things that use the same ingredients (that helps a lot). I also get the weekly sale ads and plan around those ,too. I've always been the type not to get hung up on Name Brand either. Store brands are just as good and sometimes even better.
Probably would start buying less junkfood and just save the money for things I need for real meals.
We have chickens all over the place were not going to starve, but I'll be a certified chicken cutter before its over.
I'm doing ok financially, so I'm not sure it'll affect me too much. I'll probably buy less dairy but I don't buy that much to begin with.
it already has milk is at 5.00 agallon! bread is at 2.25 for the cheap brand.Food here has always been high due to livingat the beach in florida. But 10.00 formilk and cereal is ridiculous!!i cant imagine having 6 kids to feed ....we have three and like hubby says its cheaper for dinner to order thema 5.00 hungry howie pizza at night then to fix dinner a homemade meal which is sad!!!
I am more worried about the evil chemicals hormones and anti-biotics they put in the food. But you gotta eat. I plan on growing as much as I can. I figure I can call the pigs Ham and Bacon. And the chickens Tenders.
Saving money may be a factor however I have to be alive to even consider it.
