Definitely use the olive oil for the pasta dish. Unless you are deep frying or using it in a baking recipe always use olive oil.
You can fry and saute with olive oil also.
There are two grades of olive oil. Light and extra virgin. The difference is taste, color and smoking point. Extra virgin is best used in salad dressings, pasta and vegetable topping, sauteing and any recipe that doesn't require high temperature cooking. You can fry with light olive oil. Leave the recipe to it's original ingredients when baking and deep frying.
You'll find more flavor and less cholesterol when using olive oil in your cooking. Is it alright if a recipe calls for vegetable oil but I use olive oil instead? Will there be a difference?
you can use olive oil, however it has a stronger flavor and is a bit heavier. if it's for baking, i generally use veg or corn oil...however for cooking I tend to use olive oil.
you can use olive oil wherever you use vegetable oil however, extra virgin olive oil is a heavier oil and should be used as a salad dressing and as a topping to accent a dish, not really for cooking. regular olive oil is for cooking and I use it almost daily instead of vegetable oil.
Yes, there will be, so you should always go with the recommended oil in a recipe. Olive oil is heavier and more flavorful. Vegetable oil is lighter and more mellow in flavor, and better suited to use in light salad dressings, or Asian stir-fries.
there is also the smoke index. vegetable oil is more used as a frying base. olive oil is more used for flavoring.
a pasta dish should be ok, however know that olive oil burns quicker than vegetable oil and has a nutty flavor that veg or canola oil doesnt offer. Some oils are for flavor others are not.
It depends on what you use it for. Don't put it in a cake, but if you are say, frying chicken, it won't really make a difference.
If you like the flavor of olive oil, then by all means use it. It will change the flavor slightly, but it will probably improve the flavor of a pasta dish over vegetable oil.
It will be healthier and probably taste better.
If you absolutely must use the olive oil vs. the vegetable oil, then it will make a difference, but not a major one. For stir-frys, and the like it will be ok, but for desserts like cake and cookies, try not to use it. Another thing- if you ever need to make a fruit compote, or fruit sauce, try adding a tablespoon of vinegar. It brings out the sweet flavor, just like salt. Good luck and happy cooking!
YES THERE IS A DIFFERENCE-----USE VEG. OIL
