I don't have time to run to the art supply store before my first oils class but the teacher told us we could paint on anything- not everything had to be on canvas.
Any ideas? What are some surfaces other than canvas I can paint on with Oil paint?
Well without running to like a story for supplies (besides like paint and everything)
This is what i do. i cut a peice of cardboard in a certain shape and continue off that. and i do that with wood too.
Also i like painting my work onto my walls. I have this room that i use just for anything with art, books, photo's ect. and there is this blank wall that i paint and take picutres and everything. i paint it white. then i would paint it again. Also you could try cloths, plain paper. poster board, metal sheets, wood, glass, ect.
goodluck. What are some surfaces other than canvas I can paint on with Oil paint?
Hi, primed wood and other hard surfaces are good -- metal, glass.
I would not paint on cardboard. Not that it's terrible, but you are likely to have problems with warping later on. People do paint on primed paper, but then it has to eventually be framed like a water color or drawing so as not buckle and to be preserved.
You can paint on almost anything as long as you gesso it first, that's my experience.
Wood.... You can also buy books of pullout surfaces for oil in any good art shop...
