What would happen if you placed a egg into 360 degree F oil?

The egg is question is a common hen egg with the shell still intact. Would the shell crack and then cook the egg, or would it cook the egg in the shell as if you were cooking it in normal boiling water? If the latter is true, how long would if take to cook? What would happen if you placed a egg into 360 degree F oil?
Bad things could happen, if you do this. The entire point of cooking the egg in water is to start it cold and let it gradually heat up with the water, so the eggs do not crack.

You are looking at placing yourself in a dangerous situation. The egg shell is porous and will soak in the oil, the rapid temperature change will cause the shell to crack, and you're looking at little chunks of egg funk all over your fryer that are going to burn and taste nasty, IF THE EGG DOES NOT EXPLODE IN THE OIL from steam build up in the shell.

Never put food items in hot oil that were never intended for such a purpose - this is why there are no ';deep fried egg'; restaurants.

By the way - 360 is too high of a temperature for frying - it will leave stuff a darker brown and the middles will separate from the breading. 350 is a better temperature. What would happen if you placed a egg into 360 degree F oil?
wow, good question, i have absolutely no idea
I'm not sure what would happen but I am concerned about the safety in doing that.

I'm concerned that moisture inside the egg would convert to steam as it is ';frying'; in the hot oil and could possibly explode.

I wouldn't recommend trying it.
